Direct Reimbursement Dental Plans are a self funded plan. The employer or company sponsor pays for dental care with its own funds, rather than paying premiums to an insurance carrier or third party. The patients pays the dentist directly and once the services are furnished with a receipt showing payments and services are received, the employer reimburses the employee a fixed percentage of the total dental care cost. These plan can have limits on the amount of dollar an employee can spend on dental care within a given year but often place no limits on the services provided. These plans allow the patients to select who they want to see and do not have to deal with in plan and out of plan providers.
